    3. Hybrid Systems:
    • Activated Carbon is often used in conjunction with other treatments, such as biological treatment, to enhance removal efficiency. Biological Activated Carbon (BAC) processes integrate activated carbon with biological processes to degrade and adsorb contaminants simultaneously.

Regeneration and Maintenance

  • Spent Carbon: Once saturated with contaminants, activated carbon can be regenerated through thermal or chemical processes, though not all facilities have this capability, In cases where regeneration isn’t feasible, the spent carbon is replaced and disposed of properly.
  • Regeneration Frequency: The frequency depends on contaminant concentration, wastewater volume, and treatment goals. Regenerated carbon may have slightly reduced adsorption capacity but remains effective for many cycles.
